On February 28th over 100 cyclists will embark on the Royal Far West ‘Ride for Country Kids’, a 390 kilometre ride from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour to be undertaken over 3 days. The ride is not focused on professional riders but instead on amateurs pushing themselves for a great cause.

Royal Far West (RFW) is a non-government organisation that helps provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary health services to thousands of country children with non-acute developmental, behavioural, learning and mental health disorders who cannot access these services from the areas where they live. Demand for these services is increasing, and RFW are committed to delivering services in response to this. Although Royal Far West does receive some government support, they depend on the generosity of individuals, corporations and community groups to continue their work.

This fun event has grown in popularity since its inception 2 years ago. In 2014 the Dubbo to Wagga Wagga ride raised an outstanding $126,561.91 whilst last year’s ride from Moree to Tamworth raised in in excess of $200,000 for Royal Far West.

FDC’s 2016 team consists of 13 riders and 3 support staff including FDC’s Managing Director; Ben Cottle and Directors Blake Cottle and Peter McCabe.

We are pleased to report every dollar raised goes directly to providing vital health services to country children, every cent and dollar really does make a difference to the kids and families that RFW supports.
