NEXTDC’s Perth 1500-rack facility is a “significant milestone” in Australian data centre market and completes the company’s vision of a country-wide network of “neutral” data centres network, executives said this week.
The Perth centre, dubbed “P1”, has space for 1500 racks and technical space of 3,000sqm. When fully fitted out, approximately $80 million will have been spent on the facility.
It’s been a rapid expansion for the company, which was once described as the “Switzerland “of the data centre industry.
The P1 facility is one of only eight in Australia with the Uptime Institute’s Tier III certification and has clients including Amcom, Anittel, AAPT, Optus, Megaport, Telstra and Vocus.
NEXTDC’s P1 data centre is the latest building resulting from a successful partnership with NEXT DC, this is the fourth data centre delivered by FDC for NEXTDC.
The project was delivered in conjunction with Greenbox Architecture.
