After eight months of construction, the revitalised AIS Arena – a 4,600-seat indoor venue that has served as a key sports and events hub for over 40 years in Canberra – is now complete.

Home to the Australian Institute of Sport, the arena boasts enhanced facilities to meet the demands of athletes and spectators.

Spanning 5,275sqm, the project involved extensive technical upgrades, including the full replacement of seating, lighting, and electrical systems, alongside vital fire safety compliance.

Mechanical and chiller systems were overhauled to improve efficiency, and enhanced AV capabilities provide a state-of-the-art experience for visitors.

Refurbished bathroom and change-room facilities offer modern amenities, including DDA-compliant features that ensure accessibility for all visitors. Additionally, the arena’s gantry crane was upgraded to meet current compliance standards.

One of the arena’s most striking features is its impressive roof structure—a 1,200-tonne suspended concrete panel roof that spans 100.4 metres, supported by 12 steel masts and 36 mainstay cables.

A proud delivery of a fundamental space back to Canberra, with thanks to our project partners:
