St Spyridon College at 1,130 Anzac Parade, Maroubra, is a High School and part of the Greek Orthodox Parish of South East Sydney.
The project is a 2,200sqm precast structure with structural steel trusses with a concrete mezzanine and stringy bark timber floor to the main hall. The accommodation comprises class rooms, multi-purpose sporting hall, gymnasium, stage with undercroft, snack bar and multiple music rooms to a mezzanine level. The hall is of a high standard with multiple decorative absorptive acoustic wall, ceiling and door treatments.
The main challenge encountered on this project was the requirement for high level acoustic and reverberation treatments designed to ensure noise transmission isn’t carried to adjoining residents located in close proximity. The construction and methodology process of the project were dictated by limited onsite space for storage of materials and access into the site from Anzac Parade being one way only.
