NEXTDC’s data centre at 4 Eden Park Drive, Macquarie Park is located in close proximity to Sydney’s CBD. S1 is NEXTDC’s newest purpose built enterprise-class data centre and has recently achieved Uptime Institute Tier III certification, an assurance that the facility will support extremely high levels of service availability.

It’s an impressive five-storeys with capacity for up to 2,800 racks across 5,600sqm of technical space to government and enterprise customers. S1 already hosts a number of local and major international corporate businesses and service providers who run their cloud platforms from S1, forming an active ecosystem in the vendor and carrier neutral facility. With increasing virtualisation, companies are needing greater access to plenty of power to operate business systems. S1 will have an IT capacity load of 11.5MW when fully fitted out, one of the highest power densities in the country.

Access to S1 is protected by 24/7 onsite security personnel and multi-layered encryption and authentication technology including biometric fingerprint readers.

S1 is built for energy efficiency. With direct free cooling contributing to a target PUE of just 1.3, it’s much lower than the industry average (reported to be 2.9).

FDC Technologies undertook the technological component of the project.

The project was delivered in conjunction with Greenbox Architecture.

FDC has delivered several data centres for NEXTDC including M1 in Melbourne and C1 in Canberra.
