Project Description

As part of the Federal Government’s Building the Education Revolution, FDC were engaged to construct a new school hall and covered outdoor learning area (COLA), and staff carpark within the grounds of the Botany Public School.

The construction works consisted of fabrication and erection of structural steel, masonry works, metal roof and wall cladding, internal acoustic linings, sprung timber floor and stage, and amenities.

Challenges faced during the build included disposal of high acidic sulphate and asbestos contaminated spoil during demolition and earthworks, and working in and around the operating school.

FDC were awarded top overall performance out of 24 builders for rating highest in the criteria of co-operative relationship, community interaction, contract administration, environmental management, management and suitability of site personnel, management of subcontractors and suppliers, OHS&R management, quality systems, standard of work and time management.
