Project Description

FDC (QLD) completed BHP’s Integrated Remote Operations Centre fitout in June 2016 under a fast-tracked Construction Management agreement.

BHP is one of Australia’s most iconic companies, and one of the world’s largest mining companies.

The project was separated from the balance of BHP’s Queensland Head Office, due to the complexity of the work involved, and the ‘Mission Critical’ nature of the IROC Facility. This facility is used to remotely monitor the performance and status of BHP’s major plant, equipment and mechanical mining assets across Queensland.

In recognition of the critical importance of services delivery and integration with the newly built base-building, FDC were able to call upon the expertise of our Mechanical Services and Technologies team to review the completed design, and forecast issues that were likely to eventuate in relation to mechanical services, as well as assisting in modifying the layout of the Computer Data and Serve Room to both enhance operations and avoid issues during construction.

The project was delivered within an extremely tight 9 week on-site construction programme, with a ‘defect free handover to a very pleased client and project team’.

FDC is proud to have delivered this project in conjunction with White Partners as the tenant representative, CBRE as the client project manager, BVN architects and services consultant Medland Metropolis.
