Project Description

89 York street consisted of major structural refurbishment to colonnade, lift lobby, fire stairs and tenancy space totaling approximately 1,000sqm over 3 split levels. During demolition, it was discovered that 80% of the building’s electrical, hydraulic, fire and mechanical services were outdated, thus requiring substantial upgrading whilst the building remained operational.

The work was carried out over a number of stages with specifically tight deadlines and noise restrictions to ensure the lobby remained open and high rise tenancies continue trading during construction.

Features of the of the refurbishment included new disabled lift servicing 3 split levels, removal of car park ramps to extend tenancy floor space, reinforcing existing basement level slabs with structural steel supports and installation of limestone walls and honed floor tiles from Italy to the lobby and colonnade.
