The winners of the Australian Institute of Architects 2017 NSW Architecture Awards were announced on Saturday night. From a shortlist of 88 projects, awards were handed out for categories including commercial, educational, heritage, interior, public, residential and sustainable.

FDC received commendation in the Interior Architecture category for its fitout of Woollahra Library.

Feature balustrades with over-hanging greenery, Pandomo concrete and a lively green wall embellishes the fitout of Woollahra Library at 451 New South Head Road, Double Bay. The project also includes Woodform timber ceilings throughout with Autex backing for insulation. Bamboo timber flooring for the staircase is further used as a seating area, and there is also an outdoor patio area with artificial turf and herb garden wall.

The project incorporated a playful aspect into the library which includes an indoor slide that drops down into the children’s area and an interactive visual display and games room.

The 2,200sqm project was completed in 23 weeks in conjunction with Savills Project Management, BVN and NDY.
