FDC (VIC) has recently completed the fitout of Fitness First on levels 2 and 3 at 276 Flinders Street, Melbourne.
Fitness First is the largest privately owned health club group in the world. It consists of 540 Fitness First clubs worldwide with over 1 million members in 21 countries.
This project was executed in line with Fitness First’s expansion plans and the organisation’s desire to build a facility unlike anything else in the Melbourne CBD. Located in a prime location on the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth Streets, the facility covers 3200sqm over two entire floors and includes a dedicated hot yoga room; group exercise studio; boxing studio and 50 bike cycle studio. All studios are equipped with state of the art equipment; hearing augmentation and audio visual components to make workouts as fun and interactive as possible.
The facility is also equipped with a TRX training area; massive free weight and pin loaded machine areas; extensive cardio areas; dedicated stretching areas; group and personal training areas and, in a Melbourne first, an outdoor training area on the 3rd floor balcony. The huge high-end change rooms include showers with sandblasted glass screens; digital lockers with facilities for iPod and phone re-charging; ironing facilities; hair dryers and straighteners; steam rooms and in the male changing room, an air shower. New interconnecting stairs were also built for convenient access between the two floors.
Members can purchase protein bars or shakes at reception; relax in the lounge in front of the live green wall or connect a laptop or tablet and work using the free Wi-Fi facilities. Staff facilities include an office with kitchen and meeting room and there are also physiotherapy rooms on site.
The project was delivered in 16 weeks and within budget.
