FDC’s major partnership with GIANTS Netball has entered the second year of a two-year sponsorship deal and the 2018 season is set to be even more thrilling than the first! The GIANTS created history by achieving the Minor Premier status in 2017 and are approaching the current season with renewed energy and confidence.
FDC’s Managing Director Ben Cottle is delighted with the team’s performance and is equally excited by the company’s involvement in the sport. “We are very proud to play a big role in the next evolution of Australian netball,” he said. “Netball is the premier female sport in Australia, and as a national leader in the industry, FDC is honoured to be part of a significant growth period of the game.”
Australian Netball is committed to being strong role models for young netballers around NSW, Australia and the world. This commitment coincides with the much larger issue of equal gender opportunities both in the construction and sports arenas. While netball is the country’s most played women’s team sport, construction is one of Australia’s largest industries, yet only 12% of its employees are female.
Mr Cottle recognises the importance of having a gender balance across all industries and has been heavily involved in every step of the agreement. “I understand the impact partnerships like this can make at every level of netball – from grassroots, social to the elite. And this can translate into positive outcomes well beyond the netball court.”
The partnership saw enormous success in 2017 and looks set to continue the journey in 2018. Come and join the GIANTS family at 1pm on Sunday April 29th when they take on Sunshine Coast Lightning in Round 1 at Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park.
