FDC was recently engaged by LaSalle Investment Management to deliver an extensive ground floor refurbishment at 307 Queen Street, Brisbane. The project involved a full strip out and refurbishment of the ground floor lobby and reclamation of underutilised land as part of a cold-shell transformation of street-facing retail tenancies.

Designed by Gray Puksand, the project included bespoke features such as:

  • Custom fabricated copper fascia cladding
  • Marble wall tiles
  • Venetian plaster
  • A custom Terrazzo floor featuring inlaid bronze logos.

FDC Senior Project Manager, Brett Dabelstein, said that the project required extensive planning and research to close the footpaths and street of one of the busiest intersections in Brisbane to enable the expansion of the building’s footprint.

“It was not possible to fully close Queen St or Creek St in Brisbane as it is heavily utilised as a bus stop at certain periods of the day and week. We overcame this with a combination of night works, weekend works, semi-permanent hoardings and strategic staging of works around busier periods,” Brett said.

Removing the entire existing building awning and consequently exposing the building to the elements was another challenge the FDC team overcame.

Brett explains, “We installed temporary flashings to prevent water ingress in the case of inclement weather and this solution proved to be successful. It’s exciting to have this project delivered and ready to be enjoyed. There are some stunning finishes featured in this project, and the attention to detail in the design created by Gray Puksand is second-to-none.”

The 1,550 sqm project was delivered over a 10-month period, reaching completion in June 2020.
