This project presented various construction challenges, none more so than the requirement to construct approximately 4,500sqm of post tensioned suspended concrete hardstand over a highly reactive flood plain.
Another was the need to house a 160 tonne aluminium extrusion press on the suspended hardstand area. This required an intricately designed footing structure to support both its own weight and operational forces. This portion of the project was purpose built for the aluminium extruding operations and required intense collaboration between international engineers and local consultants.
FDC was highly commended for its ability to deliver the separate requirements of each tenant and maintain a positive attitude (and performance outcome) during what transpired as one of Queensland’s wettest weather periods on record.
